The El Paso County Board of Commissioners appropriated $27,189 from the Federal Buffer Zone Protection Program to the sheriffís 2007 budget. The grant is authorized by the Department of Homeland Security through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. The funding will help protect critical structures, according to a news release.The board also approved $85,128 from the Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement Grant to the sheriffís 2007 budget. The money will be used for personnel, operating supplies and training for the Sheriffís Office Victim Assistance Program.
