Falcon resident retires his firefighting hat

Pat Kellogg joined the Marines in June 1974 and was honorably discharged in 1977. He then joined Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center as a civil service worker and later became a firefighter for Fitzsimmons.When Fitzsimmons closed its doors 15 years later, Kellogg was the fire chief. When the Fitzsimmons firefighters left their post permanently, Kellogg was offered a position at Schriever Air Force Base as the assistant fire chief.On Oct. 31, Kellogg will end a long and successful career as a dedicated firefighter for Fitzsimmons and Shriever. To celebrate his journey, his wife, Kathy McCarthy-Kellogg, hosted a surprise party for friends and family. The surprise was extended when their son, Tim, drove up in a special retirement gift: a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am, just like the one Kellogg regretted selling years ago, Kathy said.Kellogg is transitioning to another career working for a Schriever contractor, C&D Security.From family and friends (and the New Falcon Herald): GOOD LUCK & BEST WISHES “CHIEF KELLOGG.”
