El Paso County Colorado District 49

Fire department and county agree on water source

At its June 5 meeting, the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding between the county and the Peyton Fire Protection District, allowing the district to use water from Homestead Ranch Regional Park’s irrigation pond for fighting fires and training. The fire district will only use the pond’s water for fires within an approximate three mile radius of the park.”This is a great display of government entities working together to protect the safety of its citizens. It is a complete win-win situation,” said commissioner and vice chair of the board Dennis Hisey. “Peyton Fire Protection District will be able to more efficiently fight fires and also protect residential and county park property.”
