4-H hippology team wins national contest

The National 4-H Horse Classic was held in early January in Denver in conjunction with the Western National 4-H Roundup and the National Western Stock Show. Contestants from 30 states and Canada competed in the hippology, horse bowl, horse judging, horse demonstration and public speaking contests. The El Paso County 4-H hippology team received first place at the Horse Classic. The team members include Anna and Randi Jameson (Pueblo West), Janelle Rokes (Black Forest) and Haley Wilkison (Black Forest). The team is coached by Ellen Polyard (Colorado Springs).Hippology is a demonstration of horse knowledge and consists of four phases: examination, stations, team problem and horse judging. The El Paso County team finished first in the examination and horse judging phases of the competition and was the high overall team.
