Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center changes name

Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center is now called StableStrides. According to a September press release, “the new brand advances health and healing through horses and serves as an opportunity to expand services to military.”

The center has been providing equine activities and therapy for 37 years in the Pikes Peak region. The new name comes with a new tagline: Health and Healing Through Horses.

"We have often been confused with other local riding centers,” said Shannon Mitchell, executive director. “This rebrand will set us apart, expand the influence and reach of our services, and help establish our agency as a leader in the mental and physical health industries.”

The nonprofit organization hopes the rebrand will include “a new strategic vision to expand mental health services, especially those targeting the local military community.”

The press release also states, “StableStrides is a national leader in equine-facilitated psychotherapy methods … (and) employs individuals who specialize in assisting with PTSD and other mental health challenges faced by many, including hundreds of local veterans. Therapists and instructors are trained in military culture and understand that service members and their families have a different set of needs than civilians.”

StableStrides cares for and works with more than 20 therapy horses; and, annually serves almost 650 people and trains more than 200 volunteers.
