   Dear Editor:
As a new member of the Falcon/Dublin North community, I received a big time shock when the property taxes arrived earlier this year. We had downsized from our large home on the west side of the Rockrimmon area.
We expected lower property taxes; but didnít expect the charge of over $1,000 for our small lot and home by the D 49 school district. If D 49 schools were the caliber of D 20 or D 8, I would have mumbled only to myself. Many families in our neighborhood send their kids to Liberty High.
Even more disconcerting was the charge for a Metropolitan District, which was way over $1,000. The District resembles a home owners association, who take care of and manages the subdivision and welfare of homeowners. The Dublin North District effort is limited to sending residents letters if they park on their own rocks, or if they donít put their trash can out of sight.
Our former HOA cost $82 a quarter, which included having only one trash carrier for the entire subdivision. Dublin North has at least three different carriers coming through the area each week, and there is additional noise and carbon in the air.
We enjoy living east of Powers with all the young families and the availability of services within the Powers corridor. I have learned to stay away from Powers and Research after 7 a.m. or 4 p.m. Now if D-49 would learn that throwing money doesnít solve the problem of low student scores. I donít expect any change in the HOA because that takes more effort than writing threatening letters.
